On the 12th (local time), the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) Global 10 Office (Global Director: Cho Bekri) held a MOU signing ceremony with SOFEPADI (Solidarity of Women for Peace and Integral Development, Director: Julienne Lusenge) of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

CSW is a functional committee under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that brings together government-related international organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from around the world every March to share policy examples for empowering women and promoting their rights, and to explore effective ways to implement gender equality policies. This year's 68th conference was held under the theme of 'Eliminating poverty from a gender-aware perspective, and accelerating gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls through institutional strengthening and financial support.'

IWPG has recently signed an MOU with SOFEPADI, Democratic Republic of Congo, to provide the Women's Peace Lecturer Training and Education (PLTE) program and materials, and to cooperate in advocacy activities for the DPCW's UN resolution submission.

SOFEPADI is a coalition of 40 women's groups in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, working for peace, women's education, independence and the realization of their rights, and has previously held an NGO event at this year's UN CSW.

Julienne Lejonge, a recipient of the International Women's Rights Award, commented, "It is important that women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who are suffering under various adverse conditions, learn skills, receive an education and find healing. Applying IWPG's peace education to women will be very helpful. From now on, it will be meaningful to remember peace and build a peace monument rather than commemorating war."

Global Director Cho Baekri shared her thoughts on the agreement, saying, "We are pleased to have signed the MOU with SOFEPADI. We will cooperate by providing peace education content for women so that women suffering from conflict and violence can realize the importance of life and become agents of peace."

The IWPG considers 'peace' and 'solidarity between women around the world' to be essential elements for achieving gender equality, and plans to work towards realizing sustainable peace and security and increasing women's participation in the peace process.

The statement also stated that in order to end war and conflict and spread the culture of peace, the government will continue to carry out peace activities to leave a legacy of peace to our descendants through cooperation with countries and organizations that sympathize with the need for sustainable peace.
