Ms. Yuriko Koike

Ms. Yuriko Koike, the former mayor of Tokyo, said, "Thanks to the strong support of the people of Tokyo, I have been entrusted with the leadership of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for a third term. During my two terms of eight years, I have achieved a variety of policies. Once again, the people of Tokyo have asked me to promote more reforms and better support their daily lives.

I have experienced many elections, but this was an election campaign like no other I have ever seen. With 56 candidates, including myself, running for the governor's seat, posters were displayed, I received threats, and there was a chorus of jeers in the streets. This election made me realize how we can sort out legal issues in the face of unexpected situations.

There are a variety of issues facing Japan and Tokyo today. The situation is severe, with high prices and a weak yen. How will the DX be promoted in the midst of the overall declining birthrate and major changes in industry? Compared to the rest of the world, the environment for women's activities is inadequate. Tokyo must continue to undergo major reforms and upgrades.

I will make every effort to protect the lives and livelihoods of the citizens of Tokyo, and to protect them from various disasters. I will do my utmost to respond to this challenge.

I have been in charge of Tokyo for two terms and eight years. During that time, there was the Corona disaster. During the coronary disaster, I received the cooperation of the people of Tokyo and the medical community, and my achievements over the past eight years, including the transition to a Category 5 status, were highly evaluated.

We have been pursuing a "Children First" policy. We have been promoting "018 Support," free high school tuition, and a Tokyo where child-rearing and education are free of money and burdens. We would like to further expand the free childcare for up to the second child and promote the design of starting with the first child. Human resources are the lifeblood of Tokyo, so we would like to further strengthen our seamless response to each individual childcare, from the birth of the child to the encounters before that."
